Here I am in 1959 with my girlfriend Gayle Atkisson. Wow was I in love with her. The photo was taken in May. We went together for about a year. I met her when she had courier duties with the high school principal's office. It was love at first sight, at least for me, and I could hardly wait until the next day when she would come into the drafting class and hand the instructor a note from the office.
I finally had enough courage to ask her out and she accepted! We had a wonderful time for quite a while but I think that we both were pretty hard headed and things just didn't last. During the time we were dating we went out with my best friend Bob Salyer and they met. He really liked her and asked her out when she was available. They were married in 1963 until Bob's death in 2003.
I've remained friends and to this day and we are still in contact. She lives in Ames, IA. It was fun running across this old photo again. She holds a very special place in my heart and always will.

wow! u looked rlly great in 1959;) i guess the reason y i was so shocked to hear that u dated Gayle is prob cuz she nvr rlly talked bout u or her past. and that is a great pic:)
