BERLIN WALL - BRANDENBURG GATE
The Berlin Wall just been completed. Brandenburg Gate was the main entrance from West to East Berlin although it was not used. This photo was taken from the East side. Notice the open space adjacent to the wall on the East side and the building on the West. The communist government tore down all the buildings along their side of the wall so that escape was made much more difficult. I saw several memorials on the West side to people that had been killed trying to cross. A sad sad time in human history.
