IT STARTED 68 YEARS AGO TODAY

On September 1, 1939, Nazi Germany invaded Poland and started World War II. This photo is was taken in East Berlin in January 1971. It is of a Soviet War Memorial. Like our Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Over 20,000,000 Russians died during the war. Mostly at the hands of the Nazis. When the Russian army captured Berlin it had every intention of staying there to prevent Germany from ever rising again. There are several huge monuments in the area. This one was beautifully designed and maintained.
