In 1997 I attended the Northwest School of Maintenance Mangement at Fort Worden. It was winter and I expected it to be cold. Apparently that part of the Olympic peninsula is in a rain and wind "shadow". It doesn't get as cold or wet as the surrounding area. I stayed in an old officer's quarters. It was a beautiful area where the movie "An Officer and a Gentleman" was filmed. One day on a liesurely stroll I looked up to see Mt. Rainer in the distance. It was sunset and the glow was just right.
