BLACKBIRDS AND TUFA • MONO LAKE

The sun was rising above Mono Lake and I waiting for it to illuminate the tufa towers that circle the lake. The sun was up but I was down. There was a large mound between me and the horizon so the background here is lit and the tufa is waiting. Apparently so are a huge flock of black birds. Didn't look they were finding food in the tufa so it must be a roost while they wait for the insects to wake up and venture out.
Taken with a Canon 10D and a Canon 75mm-300mm telephoto
