IF THE SHOE FITS.....

I worked my way through San Jose State University while employed as the store manager of Florsheim Shoes in downtown San Jose, California. It was a great job. It offered me an opportunity to meet the public ( almost exclusively men) and practice salesmanship and cold contacts with customers. It's 1968 and I'm pictured here with a man that shined shoes in the store. His name is Aaron. He and I became good friends. I have no idea what happened to him but he didn't show up for work one day and I waited a week until I hired a new person. Ben Al-hamid was his name. The last time I saw Ben he was in the county hospital for some internal problem. I'm sure he is dead by now. This photo was taken by Larry, a fellow student that I hired as a salesperson. He used a Polaroid camera that would shoot only black and white and required a special solution squeegeed on the photo after it came out of the camera. I looked like this when I spent 6 months in Europe after graduation. No wonder no customs officials stopped me for questioning.
