Located in Guanajuato, Mexico this photo is of the courtyard in the interior of one of the most famous buildings in Mexico,
the Alhóndiga de Granaditas It was constructed from 1798 and completed in 1809. It is a museum and childrens center. The first battle for Independence took place here. A rag-tag army overwhelmed a Spanish garrison and drove them out of Guanajuato. Later the Spainards reconquered the building and eventually captured the men responsible for attack. They decapitated four of them and hung their heads in cages on the outside of the four corners of the building for 13 years until the War for Independence was won by Mexico.
